bedtime

It's hard to keep up with 3 kids and a blog, and look to buy a house, and have a kindergartener in half day kindergarden.  So, please forgive me if I don't have an adorable photo to go with every post. I am pretty sure I have lost every single reader I ever had by this point since I write on a bi anual basis.  But, I still think my kids are cute, and I still think they are worth writing about.  So, since I don't keep a journal...I'll keep trying to write stuff here.

Anyway, i wanted to write about bedtime, so I can remember the routine we once had when you crazy kids are one day old enough to brush your own teeth, read your own books, and tuck yourself in.

I guess when those days come, your Dad and I can tell each other knock knock jokes that don't make any sense ie: knock knock, whose there? do dee.  do dee who who? do dee nooker nocker the mouse went up the clock.  And then we will laugh at each other hysterically, and remember the nights that we used to lie in bed with Eden and tell rediculous knock knock jokes for 5 minutes every night.  Or talk about the times we laid in bed with Tex still dressed in his spider man costume.  Hopefully I won't still be beating myself up about the times that everyone went to bed in tears because no one was brushing their teeth after I asked 10 times, and you guys were still hiding in the closet or behind the bean bag when you were supposed to be ready for prayer or getting jammies on.  We'll probably remember all the times Tex would try to cry hard enough to make himself puke, just to see if he could drag betime out just a little longer.  And how now we have a 3rd little body, who likes to participate in bed time.  He likes to roll around in the pile of books, and listen to the stories, and watch his crazy brother and sister as they jump like monkies from the bean bag to the bed and back again.  And I hope no one breaks an arm, because I am really ready for kids to go to sleep.  I hope I don't forget playing rock, paper, scissors with Eden 20 times in a row; the new game she learned at school.  Or how she likes to read me the letters in her book.  Or how Tex likes to hear stories about Super Tex the boy who saved the world and ate all the candy and beat up all the bad guys as he was riding his bike home from the park.

As much as I usually want to pull my hair out by the end of our nightly bed time routine, I do love to brush your cute teeny tiny baby teeth, read you fun stories we found at the library, dress you in mis matched jammies, and tuck you in, and hug and kiss you 3, 4, 5 or 6 times before we head out of your room.  And just before we go, Eden without fail asks, "If you have time, will you guys come back and lay with us again?"

Yes, I am sure...not too long from now, I will look back and miss these days a whole lot.

But for now, sleep tight little ones....till 2 or 3 in the morning, when I know you will all be in my room again.

xoxo,
Mom
