An interesting surpise...

Today was pretty much one of the funniest moments I have had with my ZANY 3 year old. Eden has gone through a few days of what I would call Tyrannic 3's. She's testing just about everything possible, and it's making me a little crazy.

So, today when I was at my whit's end...I sent her on her way to her bedroom. And I planned on leaving her there for possibly the rest of the evening. After a good 5 minutes or so, she was whining about needing to go to the potty...and I ignored her. She had whined about needing to potty 10 minutes earlier while in Time-out. When I let her out of time out and asked her if she needed to potty she told me she didn't need to go anymore.

Bounce-back to the bedroom. Screaming Eden, fists banging on door, "I gotta go potty!!!" But, I am not going to give in so easily. I have a little melt down in my room, throw myself a pitty party feeling like the worst mother in the world basically...wondering how I can get through to my crazy child that there are certain ways we do and don't behave.

Anyway, I decide it's been long enough, and I open the door to let my monster out to use the potty...and I kid you not.

I opened the door, and the sweet little thing handed me a cup and said, "Mommy, will you poor this in the potty for me, please?"

I, a little confused, "What is this?"

Eden replied, "Shi-shi"

"You shi-shi'd in a cup? Are you kidding me?"

"I didn't want to get it on my panties Mommy."

I gave her a hug, and pretty much felt proud as punch that I had the most brilliant kid on the planet. Pee in a cup? Eden....what will you think of next? I probably didn't say it enough times today...but I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aaahhh. and while I'm here, I was going to post this. Does your bed-time routine include a surf ride on Daddy's shoulder's??

Today...

Today I made myself proud, as I was wandering about the house picking up toys, and tossing away bits of garbage.

Eden was in the yard trying to ride her tricycle, and asked me a few times, "Mommy? Will you push me?" Each time she'd ask, I'd reply, "Sweety, Mommy can't. I'm busy cleaning." Till finally I realized the mess can wait. It doesn't care if I clean it or leave it. But my little Eden cares a lot if I spare the 5 minutes to push her. And I need to remember this much much more often.
(by the way...this is not a real horse. ;-)

My belated birthday post- And my new(ish) house

A few days ago this special lady turned a number you wouldn't believe cause she looks way too young! And sadly enough, I didn't get to post about it. "Why" you ask... Well, I was just too busy trying to make my house as beautiful as she can do. She has quite the talent for making nice things look nicer, and the hopeless, beautiful.

Growing up we always had a well decorated house, and some pretty fun toy rooms. Instead of baking pies and cookies, my Mom was sewing, painting, garage sale-ing. ;-) And i never knew how much time and energy and brain power that took. Till now that is. Now that I have my own kids and my own home to make cute and functional. And I lie awake in my bed dreaming up different color combinations, Aqua and yellow. NO, aqua and orange. Wait, maybe a grapefruit color would be cute. I need more greens, maybe some grey?....AAAAAh! Or different uses for the various spaces in my house. And where to hang a photo. And yadda yadda.

So, though I honestly bought you a very cute gift, and it's still waiting in my car for me to ship. But - As an extra gift, I wanted to let you know I am starting to love my house, and I really wish i would have spent more of the 20 years I had living with you gleaning from your decorating wisdom.

Though, it's still a work in progress and I have some tidying up yet to do...and A LOT of sewing projects, and a bit of painting... it's coming along. And I thought you might enjoy seeing the progress.
Yesterday I sewed a faux screen door. It has magnetic attachments at the bottom to keep in anchored to keep flies and pesky mosquitoes out. I used to hate leaving the door open all day which meant the kids couldn't really play in our cool backyard. Not anymore my friends...not anymore. ;-) It's a tension rod, and some cool sheer fabric which I purchased for $4 at wal-mart.

My awesome pink chair that I LOVE. ;-) Still needs a coat of paint...not sure what yet. Probably black, but I'm not sure yet.

And now that we can hang outside, and keep the house bug free...I wanted a place to relax, read, nap...ya know. Whatever. ;-) I still plan to paint and cover the couch in something else, but this is how it looks for now.

My bathroom. I got rid of those shelves behind the toilet, and it completely opened this space up. Used a cute sheet (which still need to be sewn) as the curtain, a $1 garage sale find flower and the cutest beach photo of my beach babes. Oddly enough, this is one of my favorite spaces in the house.

Still a work in progress is my living room. It's coming along, but I think it will be the last room I will finish. I'm too uncommitted to anything I put in it. But for now, I like it.

HAPPY (belated) BIRTHDAY MOM!!!!!!

Pinch Me!

You must be kidding me...my girl is 3? No, I won't believe it!

I think her Daddy and I were both in denial the night before her 3rd birthday. We kept her up a bit past bed time. We couldn't quit tickling, giggling, singing, dancing, reading stories. It wasn't decided on, or talked about. It just seemed that neither of us wanted to tuck our little girl in bed. As though, if we let her stay up she could stay our little girl forever. But, eventually to bed she went....Like all 2 year olds, they have a limit! ;-)

But in the morning, boy did we have fun. I woke up bright and early with my "bright and early" child, while Eden and her Daddy slept in together in our bed. Tex and I got our place all nice and decorated with crepe paper and balloons. There was a whole lotta fun to be had! Come 8 o'clock, I went in and woke her up myself. I was excited to start our day!!!

A little later in the morning, Daddy walked with Eden to 7-eleven to pick out her very own doughnut.

We headed out the door after a while and headed to the one and only place where a kid can be a kid..........................CHUCK E CHEESE!!!!!!

A prize for her 100 tickets!!!!
A free Coldstone creation! Cotton candy ice cream...with what else but....SPRINKLES!!And a little time to be silly.... All in a days work! Yippee for 3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hahaha! Something to record, before it ends...and I forget.

I was just sitting here relaxing for the past bit, enjoying a bit of quiet while my 2 monkeys nap.

When I heard a little noise coming from one of the rooms. As I sat here trying to figure out which of the 2 monsters had woken, I suddenly hear Tex's sippy cup hit the door.

I always give him a sippy cup when I put him down for a nap...I know. You aren't supposed to, but it works for us for now. Anyway, whenever he wakes up now, he always hucks the thing at the door. It made me laugh outloud. Silly boy!! ;-)

Happy Birthday to me!!

Ok, I think I have avoided posting this cause it's hard for me to admit that i am now a "later 20's". To me, 27 was later mid-20's. But, 28? That's just plain old late 20's.

Anyway, it was a fun day spent with my family. My favorite part of the day, was spending time with my kiddos and husband at Sizzler. For me it was a moment to share with the 3 people make up the majority of what my life is about. I don't think I'm a very good writer at times...so let me try and put into words my feelings about that hour I shared with the top 3 people in my life. To me, birthdays are a day for remembering and celebrating the life that you have had. And, my family is my life. We ordered the salad bar. And Sizzler honestly has an amazing salad bar I thought. You know how smells bring back lots of memories? Well, I think eating can too. So, whether i was eating sliced watermelon and oranges, and thinking of summers past, or having a taco, thinking about my days at USU with my gals enjoying some delicious Mexican, or ice cream and the many many family parties, or chatting with a friend while we enjoyed tomatoes and salt. So so so many of my good memories are centered around food. Probably since we eat to much for special occasions, or even just lunch with a friend. Anyway, it was really really fun for me to reminisce about so much in my mind...as I entertained 2 crazy kiddos, with the wonderful man I choose to build my life with. It was a great day!

Eden's concoction....yylllll, nasty.

TEx, if you grab my plate on more time... I'll smother you in kisses!!

And a few nights later my awesome friends surprised me with a party with veggies and fruits galore. We stayed up past midnight...just chatting. The way we do best. But sadly, if there are no kids involved...we rarely have a camera around. And so, I just have memories and pictures in my head...of my awesome friends sitting around eating broccoli and carrot sticks with me. With a side of strawberries and pears. And nuts for dessert. ;-) Aren't they the best???

A few photos I stole ;-) Happy Easter!!

My friend took these at last weeks Happy School egg hunt. So cute! ;-) I love the one where it looks like Eden is comparing her egg basket with her friend. ;-) And on the trike? So cute!

We had lots of fun the Easter weekend. Egg hunts galore...so much candy Eden literally puked. ;-) A little too much milk chocolate for a lactose intolerant Tex. But, all in all....it really was A LOT of fun!!!

I'm too lazy/busy to post the photos here and facebook. Head on over through the link to see more...and enjoy! ;-) http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=408705&id=677155160&l=c3e56429a8

I love my job!

I get to say,
"Good night Barbie. Have a happy quiet time", as I give Barbie and Eden a kiss to settle them down for a little afternoon R&R. And as I close the door and walk away I think, "what an awesome job I have. I'm glad that I get to be here with my kids, each and everyday." And, I'm glad that Eden knows if she asks me to kiss her dolls and tuck them in too...I'd do it in a heart beat.

Goodness. time to catch up

I haven't posted much lately. I have been filling my brain and time with decorating ideas, decorating blogs, and emptying the crizzy out from our place. And I'm lovin' it!

Actually, that's not true. I haven't been loving it. The process... I kinda really don't like. It stresses me out. My mind won't shut off. I can't stop checking craigslist like a maniac every 30 minutes. And you never know what people are going to call their item...so you have to try a billion searches. And then, just when you think you are going to love a piece, and you measured the wall, and started dreaming up all the fun things you will do...someone else snatches it up from you!

But, when the room starts coming together? Love it!

Anyway, that's not the point of this post. I wanted to take a moment to catch up on Tex's final birthday photos. So that I can post about my birthday. Because in a week and a half...this little cheeky monkey will be 3!!!

So, to finish up my memories of Tex's first birthday (and I still can't believe that this day has already up and gone *tear*)

I was thinking about having friends over sunday evening. But it just didn't happen. I didn't go to the store to buy any cake or cake baking materials. So...it just didn't happen. We really do love you friends, and I know you all would have loved to celebrated Tex's 1st with us. I hope you don't take offense that we didn't throw him a party, and that we were stingy and kept him all to ourselves.

That said, I found a recipe for a Wacky Cake. You basically make it with any sort of flour, oil, and baking soda, and coco. I didn't have coco, so we substituted carob powder. And I'm a nutrition baking natzi, so we only had wheat flour. And I'm not a fan for oil in baking...so we substituted apple sauce.

Eden and I had a good time together. She is really into helping me in the kitchen these days.

Once you glopped on some Duncan Heinz frosting, sprinkles, m&m's, and a candle...it tasted pretty good! ;-) Actually, even without the frosting it wasn't half bad. See for yourself!!

Actually, Tex was a little hesitant. He stared at it a while. After a few minutes, I squished his chubby little hand in the cake to get a little frosting on his fingers...so he could try a little taste. He tasted a bit of frosting, but still was a little hesitant to dive right in.

Eden had no hesitation however...she knew right what to do!

But, it didn't take long for Tex to catch on.
Before long the cake looked like this....
and my living room like this...

Scrub a dub dub...put the Birthday Boy in the Tub!!!
It was great!!! We love you our little Mr. T, Mr. man., TK, Chunky boy, little fella, Texy Mexy... Happy Birthday Brother!!!
